This is the only moment I have today to sit here and post. Today is going to be another busy one for us...we were out late last night trying to get at least one field done for the year...and we did. One down...several more to go. A little rundown of my/our afternoon/evening yesterday... 1:30- 3ish - Took a walk around town to enjoy the beautiful fall weather we were FINALLY having. Stopped at the library to say hello to our friendly librarian. While walking home, I had to stop Taitlin and teach her the importance of looking both ways before crossing the street. (sigh) 3ish-3:13 - Went out to the field to deliver snacks and pick a sample of beans up from Joel. He needed the moisture content of the beans tested. If they were to wet...they would go to town...if they were just right...they would go in his bin to be stored. 3:13 - 4:30 - Started hauling beans to the bin for Joel. I had to have a lesson on how to do this again because I wanted to make sure I didn't mess anything up. Joel was happy to show me and he was off again to combine more beans. Taitlin stayed with Joel in the combine and Tristin went with me in the tractor. Joel had one wagon for me to dump and another wagon full but wanted it to go to town. He said he would wait for his other help to arrive later and the help would take that wagon to town. (Joel has a process...I don't question it.) 4:30 - 4:50 - Took the empty wagon back to the field...noticed the time and took Tristin home to put supper in the oven. Chicken with herbs and a butternut squash.....was put into the oven to cook away until we returned for supper. 4:50-5:00 - Noticed that wagons weren't full enough to dump yet...but the full wagon waiting to go to town was calling my name to take to town...hmmm...should I take it for him? 5:00- 6:00 - Tristin and I head to town with the load. You would think some of these guys around here have never seen a girl drive a tractor to town. Tristin and I make sure to wave at every little boy and girl playing outside...it's great to making other kiddos smile! Stopped on the way back to the farm at home to check on the chicken...house smelled wonderful! I was getting hungry! 6:05 - 6:25 - Returned back to the farm to find another wagon full. Tristin and I took it to the bin, dumped, and headed back to the field. 6:25-6:50 - Grabbed Taitlin from the combine and the kiddos and I drove back home to eat supper. Ate very quickly! Packed a supper for Joel, grabbed my choir book...headed back to the field. Delivered supper and children to Joel...headed to choir practice... 7:04 - 8:30 - Choir practice. I was exhausted at practice. I also remembered halfway through practice, I never looked in a mirror to see if my face was clean...hmmm. Ran to the bathroom to look...sigh...all clean! 8:45 - 10:45ish - Back out to the field to pick up my kiddos and head home...(insert huge sigh)...noticed Joel had almost three full wagons and was almost done with the field....but he would probably need to stop combining to dump wagons...hmmm...so being the nice wife that I am...grabbed the kiddos from him...put both of them in the tractor...and started hauling wagons to the bin. I need to say right here... THANK YOU to G'ma M. Thank you for turning on the garage light for me! That helped me out soooo much so I wasn't tripping over machinery! Thank you. Thank you. Thank you! 10:45ish - 11:00 - Kiddos still going strong...where do they get their energy?.... Joel finally finished with one of his bean fields...and only one wagon was left to dump! Kiddos and I head home while Joel dumps that last load. Showers for everyone and bed followed right after. Both kiddos are talking about what tomorrow would hold for the them and the farm! 11:45ish- Joel arrived home for the night, a shower for him and bedtime for both of us.

This is what Tristin would do while we were unloading...just patiently watch.
Little T is with Joel...you can see her little legs dangling in the seat...
Enjoy your day everyone! ~Jill ~*~*~*~ |
